Viviane Potocnik

I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), Switzerland. At the end of my Bachelor's, I was the Project Manager at ARIS (Akademische RaumfahrtInitiative Schweiz) where I got some practical insights into the mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of rocket design. Under the project name EULER, we developed the first iteration of Switzerland's first student-developed supersonic rocket. In my first semester project, I worked on wireless vital sign monitoring using low-power radars. Afterward, I did a six months internship at IBM on explainable AI and anomaly detection on cloud-based storage systems. When returning to ETH, I finished my Master's in developing a software backend for Snitch-based manycore platforms. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D in developing the software stack for novel architectures developed at IIS and end-to-end ML applications on PULP systems.

Interests

My main interests are software stack development and machine learning applications on various architectures.

  • Machine Learning, Neural Networks
  • Data Parallel High-Performance Computing
  • Embedded systems
  • TinyML on Microcontrollers
  • Compiler Design
