Short Description

Reliable wireless communication is always challenging, but especially so if one of the termials is located in deep space. In order to realize a communication link between a deep-space probe and a receiver on earth optical systems are currently being tested. A critical component in such a deep-space optical communication link is error correction, since the correct recovery of heavily attenuated signals is of utmost importance. In this project a non-binary LDPC code shall be examined for this purpose. The goal of this project is evaluating the performance of this code and developing an efficient decoding architecture.
