In a system design you are expected to put together a working prototype using off-the shelf components, microprocessors, FPGAs and get a demonstrator to work. Depending on the system this may require you to:

  • Search for components that satisfy the requirements and are available for purchase
  • Read and understand data sheets
  • Design and solder a PCB
  • Program a microcontroller or a microprocessor system
  • Write specifications for future ASIC or FPGA systems that would make the system run faster, with less power or make it smaller overall.
