Introduction
In 5G cellular standards known synchronization waveforms are used by the modem to detect the presence of a basestation. The modem needs to perform a 2D sweep of cross-correlations, which is one of the most computationally expensive tasks in an IoT modem. Recently, a new kind of synchronization waveforms has been proposed to reduce the complexity to a 1D sweep using a clever trick [1].
Project Description
During your project you will look at the proposal in detail and evaluate its performance in comparison to state-of-the-art solutions. For this you can use our existing NB-IoT Matlab simulation framework as a starting point. One key aspect will be the complexity comparison with our existing implementation. Depending on the length of your thesis and your interests you can also run tests on our RF SoC development platform.
